This book describes the life of a Scottish couple during WWII and their relocation to Australia after the war.  It includes the military aspects of war as well as what happened on the home front. 

I enjoyed the personal perspective of the impact of war on Glasgow and how the changing role of women took a shop assistant to the highlands of Scotland to work as a lumber jill.

An enjoyable and informative read.
